You will be guided by Drum maker instructor, Laurie Morningstar as she starts the day with “Emotional Alchemy” session to attune and energy your drum. She will lead us through the process of creating our very own musical masterpiece.
Once made, the drum will need to dry! Once dried you will be able to “Beat and march to your OWN drum!” You can then join us for our regular drum circles and even be guided by Cynthia Joy to paint your drum if so desired(separate workshop once drum is complete)
The physical sensory nature of drumming provides a unique aesthetic experience. Recent research – though the indigineous peoples have know and used drums for as long as history has been recorded – indicate that drumming accelerates physical healing, boosts the immune system and assists in releasing emotional trauma. Drumming has a positive effect on anxiety, grief, fatigue, depression and behavioral issues.
Drumming can have positive effects on your health and may help with many conditions from stress, fatigue, and anxiety, to hypertension, asthma, chronic pain, arthritis, mental illness, addiction, and even cancer.
Here’s why drumming is good for you:
Laurie is an Emotional Alchemist and Ascension teacher. Her spiritual journey began in 1996 making a drum at Phoenix Bookstore in Surrey, BC. with elder Danyo Braun.
For many years she participated in sweatlodge and sundance, assisting Danyo in drum making workshops, the largest being over 100 drums for the First Nations of Conklin, Alberta and the Suncore company. Laurie carries a sacred pipe for the people that was given through the sundance.
She has facilitated her own workshops for over 20 years, adding Emotional Alchemy to allow deep healing and giving people a tool to help themselves move forward quickly.
Guiding you as you create your heartbeat to open your heart and soul, has been a passion since her first workshop.
The teachings about the drum come from Lakota and sundance.
The drum can be used for many purposes…songs, sound healing and journeying. You will find your own way with your very own “DrumBeat”
